Out of our own experience, and what we’ve been helping our clients with – these are the 5 most common mistakes that will send your Instagram account into a spiral downwards so fast that you won’t even know how it happened.
Are you guilty of any of these?
1. Posting just for the sake of posting.
Be strategic with what you’re doing on Instagram. Every brand touchpoint should have its purpose.
2. Going quiet for weeks.
You’ve been building for months and you stopped posting? Don’t expect that your entire audience will be there waiting for you, they won’t.
3. Inconsistency.
If you’re posting randomly throughout the week and month, this isn’t going to work. Be consistent. Even if it’s just two times a week. Let it always be two times a week.
4. Trying to sell. Every time.
Social media is to build relationships first, selling second. Rushing to the sale will only get you a bad rep. We’ve been doing 80/20 – 80% is giving all we have to give, 20% is asking for a sale.
5. Pivoting abruptly.
If you’ve started on one thing, and now you’re switching to something else, that’s fine. Just make sure if you should drop that account and start a new one, or if your current audience matches what you’ll be doing and you can announce the pivot seamlessly.
Coming back from a dead account will be super hard.
In most cases, it’s just easier to start a new one. What’s even easier is to not commit any of these crucial mistakes at all!
